- What is NationBuilder
- What services can NationBuilder offer?
- Why have a shared platform?
- Can chapters opt out of being on the NationBuilder Platform?
- Will chapters be able to customize their NationBuilder website?
NationBuilder is a community organizing system (COS) and the platform the network will be moving to as part of the Chapter Operating System. What makes NationBuilder special is that it integrates membership management, content management, financial tracking and payments, event registrations, surveys, and other tools into one platform. Basically: it puts everything in one place AND allows us to access and collect cohesive data across the network, while still allowing chapters to have control over their own sites.
NationBuilder is a fully integrated platform that offers the following services through a shared dashboard and database:
- Social Media Integration
I bet someone has asked you how YNPN makes an impact. You may have chapter level data available to say what YNPN does in X city, but we don’t have any way to pull together data from all the chapters and to make data-based decisions or share what we’re learning with the sector. In short, we can’t tell the story of YNPN, and our members, unless we have a way to collect and pull cohesive data.
That data will allow us to measure the impact of what we do across the nation and demonstrate how we are an important force in creating a diverse and powerful social sector.
One important note: each chapter will retain ownership of their own database, with National having the ability to pull data across all the chapters. (I.E. YNPNdc won’t have access to YNPN Birmingham’s data and vice versa. But, National can aggregate data).
Read the YNPN data policy here.
As part of the affiliation agreement, chapters will need to transition to NationBuilder as their chapter’s database and content management system.
The Chapter OS is about operating effectively together as a network, and a key part of being able to maximize our impact is the ability to collect and share data about our work.
We're asking all chapters to come on to NationBuilder because it enables us to collect and share data in a way that's accurate, streamlined, and powerful. Having a shared platform ultimately allows us to make data-based decisions about the future of the network as well as share what we're learning about the experiences of young people in the sector.
Having a single system also makes it possible for National to offer in-depth support, training, and resources to chapters around data collection.
Yes. NationBuilder offers several templates out of the box that will provide chapters with a variety of options for their site design. National will also be doing some customization and building on the standard NationBuilder templates that will be available to the network.
Additionally, NationBuilder has an Architects program of affiliated designers and developers that offer customization and chapters have the options to invest in customization on their own if they’d like to.
