Tracking People, Memberships, and Relationships in NationBuilder (August 19)

This Program XChange will provide an overview on strategies and features in NationBuilder that your chapter can use to record, track, and report key data about members, supporters, and organizations. The following techniques and features in NationBuilder will be covered:

  • Creating and editing member and organization profiles using the ‘People’ submenu in the NationBuilder Control Panel
    Using tags and filters to quickly organize and find information on specific groups of people associated with your chapter, including members, event attendees, and sponsors
  • Using lists and data exports to pull key information from NationBuilder for use by board members
  • Updating specific membership type information and settings in your NationBuilder subnation, including best practices for auto-response emails for new members and renewal reminder emails for current members.

The final portion of the session will include an opportunity for Q&A from attendees or answers to questions submitted before or during the live screensharing portion of the workshop.

Who Should Attend: Chapter Leaders with membership-based roles (recruitment, engagement, sponsor/organizational engagement); Chapter Leaders who have primary responsibility for entering/managing information and data in NationBuilder

Customizing and Designing Your Chapter Website (September 16)

This Program XChange will focus on updating and customizing aspects of your Chapter’s site in NationBuilder. The workshop will focus on an overview of the page designer and settings in NationBuilder, including an overview of the programming language primarily used in the design of the site: HTML, CSS, and Liquid. The workshop will also cover demonstrations on how to make the following adjustments to NationBuilder sites:

  • Changing the color scheme for your NationBuilder site
  • Updating the header and body fonts that your site uses
  • Changing the menu settings and structure of your site
  • Updating header and footer elements for your site

The final portion of the session will include an opportunity for Q&A from attendees or answers to questions submitted before or during the live screensharing portion of the workshop.

Who Should Attend: Chapter Leaders who have primary responsibility for adding content or updating/maintaining their chapter’s site in NationBuilder; Chapter Leaders who would like to learn more about the coding skills involved in making NationBuilder updates

Finance Tracking Codes and Reporting in NationBuilder (October 21)

This Program XChange will cover using the finance tracking codes and reporting features in NationBuilder to set up systems to monitor and automatically track incoming sources of revenue for your chapter, including membership fees, event registration/ticketing fees, and fundraising donations. This workshop session will also discussing exporting NationBuilder finance data to other platforms such as QuickBooks.

Who Should Attend: Chapter Leaders who are responsible for setting up membership payments, event registration/ticketing, or donations in NationBuilder; Chapter Leaders who are Treasurers or responsible for financial management, oversight, and tracking for their chapters.

Strategic Chapter Planning Using Paths, Goals, and the NationBuilder Dashboard (November 18)

This Program XChange will cover using the Paths and Goals feature in NationBuilder to focus your board’s efforts on key projects and initiatives. The training will cover a live demo of setting up goals and an overview of the key types of data you can track in NationBuilder. The session will also cover an overview of the Paths feature, including demos on how to use Paths to assign and complete tasks like event follow up, outreach to prospective members and sponsors, and membership renewal outreach.

Who Should Attend: Chapter Leaders who are interested in how to use NationBuilder more strategically for task/project management; Chapter Leaders who are officers/executive members looking for a way to track progress in key areas

NationBuilder Orientation for New Chapter Leaders (August 26 & October 9)

This set of Program XChange orientations are geared towards Chapter Leaders who have recently joined their chapter boards and who have limited experience with NationBuilder. The orientation will cover the basics of the NationBuilder Control Panel, provide links and information to additional training resources for NationBuilder, and cover basic tasks like setting up new user profiles, creating events, and creating/editing pages.

The final portion of the session will include an opportunity for Q&A from attendees or answers to questions submitted before or during the live screensharing portion of the workshop.

Who Should Attend: Chapter Leaders who are new to NationBuilder and looking for a tutorial/workshop to quickly get up to speed on the platform; Chapter Leaders who are not tech-inclined but would like to know the basics of NationBuilder to support their chapter’s work
