Announcing the First YNPN National Book Club!
We’ve heard from you that you’d like more opportunities to connect with National and each other. To create space for YNPs across the country to connect and converse, we’re giving a national book club a test drive.
How will it work? Similar to a “One City, One Book” program, we’re encouraging the network to read a single book during the month of April. We’ve selected “Everyone Leads: Building Leadership from the Community Up” by Paul Schmitz for it’s insightful discussion of leadership, diversity, and community engagement. A discounted price for our members is in the works–more information coming soon!
During the month of April, we’ll be talking about the book and related themes on the YNPN blog. We’ll also be providing opportunities for YNPs to chat and discuss what they’re reading. And we’ll be setting up an event with Paul where members can go deeper into the book by engaging with the author.
How can local chapters get involved? If the book and topic resonates with your chapter, we encourage you to host in-person book club meetings in addition to the virtual events. On March 27, we’ll be hosting a Program Xchange on chapter book clubs to provide tips and resources for hosting a successful event.
We have more exciting plans in the works, so look for an email next week with more details. In the meantime, if you have any questions you can reach out to our Communications Fellow Jamie Smith at email@example.com.
